Discuss the connection between nutrition and disease. Be sure to include information on chronic diseases, as well as malnutrition and other leading causes of death.

Remember - There is a direct connection between nutrition and disease!

It is important for people to be mindful of what they put into their body, and remember that you are what you eat. It is scary to think about how many premature deaths could have been prevented by eating a healthy, nutritious balanced diet.

According to the Nutrition Policy at Cspinet.org, "Unhealthy eating and inactivity contribute to 310,000 to 580,000 deaths each year according to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). That’s 13 times more than are killed by guns and 20 times more than by drug use." (Nutrition Policy, 2012).

Many Americans consume large amounts of soduim, saturated fat, and sugar, while consuming small amouts of fruits, vegetables, and other foods high in vitamins and nutrients. By eating this wat, the body won't have the energy for everyday tasks. Eating like this is not good for our bodies, and can cause death and illnesses.

Some of these illnesses are:
hypertension
diabetes
high blood pressure
heart disease
cancer

All of these things are diseases that no one wants, and you would think this would cause more people to eat better, but that is not always the case. There are many reasons why people ignore these truths and continue eating foods high in trans fat and calories. These reasons are described in the blogs that will follow. the important thing is to teach your children the importance of eating well. This way they are alreday used to this when they grow up and don't have to worry about a lifestyle change when they leard how bad junk food is for them. If you are already an adult, and have a habit of eating junk food, try and stop. This is one of the best things you could do for your body!
